Random Collection #23

Throughout the years of being a Ninja Turtle fan, my collection has been growing. Every year I get something new that joins the collection. Growing since 1989, I have over 500 Ninja Turtle toys out of package and over 300 in package, as well as books, animation cels, original comic art, scripts and so much more. To cover all of this on Cowabunga Corner is not something I really think I can do. Though I get a lot of questions about my collection, so I figured I could do random stories from time to time to share one item in my collection.

In 2004 I went through a small store on 9 Mile in Ferndale, and found these cans of Silly String. They were cheap and I was so amused. I love the plastic cover of Michelangelo over the spray nozzle. I bought them up on the full stock they had of these silly string cans. I came home, and Miki and I had a bit of a silly string fight through the house. It was a lot of fun. Since then we’ve had the cans and the top covers around the house. Normally I bump into the plastic tops on displays.

This silly string was released by Rose Art. They did a lot of the art supplies for the Ninja Turtles in the mid 2000’s. The cap is marked as “Reusable” since it would fit on most string cans. There’s warnings all over the can with not leaving it in heat, not to puncture, crush or incinerate the can even when empty. And it says Parental Supervision Required.

This really is a fun product that came out. It brings a smile to my face every time I see them around the house. The only thing I wish they had is the name of the artists who did the Michelangelo cap on the top. I love it when credit is given to the artist that bring the Turtles into their full appearance.

Most of my cans of silly string are not empty and put away with a few of the tops laying around the house. I was happy to see this full can out so I can share a photo with everyone here on Cowabunga Corner. This sort of reminds me of the products we’re seeing from Little Kids. Original art for the cool new items. Neat stuff.

Do you have the 2004 TMNT Sewer String? If so did you use it at all or just put it away? Please share reviews, questions and comments below!
