Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #62

Hey everyone!

Welcome to episode 10 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I talk about the Playmates Statues. Which is my favorite set of TMNT Statues so far. I do want to apologize I am sick in this video, barely having a voice and really tired.

The set of Statues in front of me for this video is my mom’s set. My set was put back in their boxes a year ago and put in my closet, as we needed to move her set up to my room for a bit. So this set has been in my room on the entertainment stand.

Welcome to episode 9 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I get to sit down and interview Townsend Coleman who is best known as Michaelangelo from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon.

Townsend also did other characters on TMNT like Groundchuck, Rat King, Rahzar, Screwloose, Usagi Yojimbo and Muckman. Townsend worked on many other shows like The Tick, SWAT Kats, TalesSpin, Teen Wolf and his first cartoon gig ever was Inspector Gadget.

In this interview we get to go over how Townsend got into voice acting, about his years of working on Ninja Turtles and a bit of the series he did after working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Welcome to episode 8 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I share some video that was taken in 1993 of my trip to Orlando, FL.

Originally planned to just show the MGM Turtles, though when I realized how short this blog would of been I decided to share some more of the trip. Covering both Universal Studios and Disney World.

This video is one of the first Cowabunga Corner episodes to share some of my other interest as I let audio from the past tell about parts of the trip, over lapping the matching video. There will most likely be another episode down the road about this trip, sharing some of the Turtle stuff that did not make it into the video.

Review: Redford Theatre

Detroit, Michigan has been a very hard-up town for a long time now.  Many people do not want to go there for really good reasons, with a high crime rate, police taking hours to respond, low income, and an overall hard-up feeling to the city with businesses closing down and unemployment going up. What type of business could be worth going into this city?  Well there are some big places that have managed to keep going downtown, it’s nice when you can find that diamond in the rough that is surviving these hard times.

Welcome to episode 7 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I talk about the Mirage “City at War” Comics.

It’s just an over all review about the comics, I will do issue reviews later more where I’ll get the chance to talk about the artist, and what happens from issue to issue. Just figured this was a good story and deserved a cover blog for it.

Review: New York City Comic Con 2011

New York City Comic Con is a convention worthy of having returning fans and booths.  With a great lay out, fun panels, and a nice size crowd, guests for all sorts of people, games for young and older fans and tons of comic booths and artist for everyone to enjoy, this is not an event that disappoints the attendees.  Every year they try to make it bigger and better, with goals to become as big as San Diego Comic Con. Though, personally, I’d be happy if it stays at the size the convention is at right now.

50/50: Movie Review

Last week I decided to go see 50/50. I’ve heard good things about the film and wanted to see it for myself. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Adam, a young man who goes to the doctor one day to figure out the cause to some pain in his lower back. Lo and behold he has cancer. Throughout the film, Adam’s best friend Kyle, played by the lovable Seth Rogen, tries his best to help his buddy get through this life-shattering ordeal. Just the idea of seeing these two in a movie together was enough to make me want to watch it, but then we get Bryce Dallas Howard as Adam’s girlfriend.

Welcome to episode 6 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I get to sit down and interview Michelan Sisti who is best known as Michaelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 : The Secret of the Ooze.

He also played the pizza delievery guy in the first movie and April’s neighbor in the second movie. So both movies we know him in and out of costume.

Movie Review: Real Steel

Since Comic Con International, I’ve been waiting for a movie to hit the theaters, “Real Steel”.  At the convention, we got to see the robots that will be used in the movie.  Hugh Jackman was there to promote the movie, and not only did my sister, Miki, get to meet him where he signed a poster for her, we saw him later on the streets of San Diego.  Later, during my Los Angels trip, we met up with another crew member from “Real Steel” who also worked on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze”.

American Horror Story: Television Review

October always seems to be the month to release horror stories on both the big screen and the small screen. Last year, Walking Dead was released to AMC and devastated the competition, becoming a very successful television series for last year and being highly anticipated for this year. Another highly anticipated television series is The American Horror Story on the FX Network.

When I saw the first trailer for this television series, my interest was peaked. I’m all about paranormal phenomena, haunted houses, and the story of the people dealing with the strangeness. I was eagerly awaiting the new show, with high hopes. Fortunately, those hopes were not completely dashed.
