Book Review: "Family Don't End with Blood"

Fandom is a strong part of my life.  For the past 29 years of my life I have been a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Fan, and 23 of those years I’ve been an active member of the TMNT online fandom.  Though I’ve always been proud and happy to share my fandom with others, even before the internet.  I find it hard to think that people feel they need to hide their passions and worry about what the world thinks, since all of us being different is what makes this world great.  I have embraced all sorts of fandoms, though can’t find myself taking a more active role in those other fandoms since my passion stays so much to the world of TMNT.  My other fandoms shine through more to the people that know me

Let Me Introduce Myself

My 5th birthday party. Donatello cake compliments of my wonderful grandmother. As you can guess by me being a contributor for this website, I am a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. The turtles have been a part of my life since I was a child. I’m 32, so that was in the late 80s early 90s during the height of the TMNT popularity.

Turtle Tracks

Hi. My name is Jen Selinsky, and I’ve been a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since 1990. For the next couple years, I found myself obsessed with the franchise. Primarily, there was the TV show. I also collected some of the action figures, plush toys, and trading cards. And though I wasn’t adamant that I had to have everything turtle related, those who knew me were also aware of my obsession.

As I merged into my adolescence, I became obsessed with other things, such as boys. I’d dated a few guys during junior high and high school; it became obvious that I’d abandoned my four reptilian friends for a sudden surge of hormones!

Kodak Moment #64

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is at Toronto Fan Expo 2005.

Help get TMNT into the National Toy Hall of Fame!

In 1983 Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they released these characters to the public in 1984 as a Comic Book.  The Turtles were a huge success through comic book fans, though for those not into the comic scene it was not heard of.  Things could’ve remained this way if Mark Freedman did not get into the picture and go to Playmates Toys for the action figure line.  Playmates Toys loved this story so much that they funded the first five episodes of the original cartoon series.  Making the Toys one of the major backbones behind the Turtles which helped many of us fans learn their story.  I for one am Thankful as they helped and ch

TMNT Box #1

There a lot of Turtle fans out there that don’t have the time or money to just go out and collect everything that hit the shelves.  This does not mean that those fans do not want to get hands on cool TMNT stuff, it just says that some things slip away before they can jump into the action.  If you’re a fan who wants TMNT stuff, if you like surprises, and if you want to save money this is something for you.  This is the TMNT Box.
