Northampton

Kathy's Diner

Northampton the home of Mirage Studios.  One of my favorite vacation spots as I have been traveling there for 20 years now, visiting friends and having good food.  With cool stores and neat places to visit I highly encourage many to go there.  With a smile on my face and fond memories of great times.  One of our favourite places to go has always been Kathy’s Diner, the best Pancakes in town.  When cutting through Northampton this last time, we came to a surprise finding Kathy’s Diner close.  Of course the memories will always be with me and now I’ll like to share those with everyone.

Review: Paint and Pixel Festival 2012

There are some events I go too which are not really planned out.  For weeks I was planning to spend October 20th and 21st in Rhode Island for the Yu-Gi-Oh event.  Though during a visit to Northampton, MA with a few friends we learned of another event.  As Tokka and Fugitoid found a flyer in the Thrones Market for a local Art show.  The top of their Guest list, Peter Laird.  Going to be on the East Coast already, but I could not stay in Northampton.  We had to travel back down to New York City, I had to make the choice to spend the full weekend in Rhode Island or take Saturday for Northampton.  I made the wise choice of heading back up to Northampton.

Words and Pictures Membership Party 1997

In honor of it being Kevin Eastman’s Birthday, a week from today, I would like to share one of my many stories of a time I met up with Kevin.  Today’s story goes back to 1997 at the Words & Pictures Museum.  It was time for the Words & Pictures membership party and a handful of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans from the TMNT-L mailing list decided to meet up for the event this year.  It was a busy weekend.  On Thursday, Kevin was doing a speech about his life at the museum and we also had the airing of the second episode of the Next Mutation that Friday.

My first Internet meet up

Ever get nervous about meeting fellow fans from the Internet?  Ever wonder if the person you’re talking to sitting on the other side of the screen is really who they say they are?  Has this prevented you from going out and meeting fellow fans?  I know I was nervous when I first got online, all you heard on the news was the bad stuff.

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #75

In this episode I share a time when a group of Ninja Turtle fans got to visit Mirage Studios. They were in town for the Words & Pictures Museum and got invited to see the studio.

Mirage Studios was founded by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and made it's mark on the map when they released the first Ninja Turtle comic in 1984. At that time there was no studio, though with the success of the Turtles, the studio became real. The first location was flooded out, so this is not the only building that has been Mirage. Though this building has been Mirage Studios for many years.

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #70

Welcome to episode 18 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode a group of TMNT fans are at the Words & Pictures Museum for a Good Bye party to the Museum from the TMNT fans. The Museum Staffers, were nice enough to let our group host the party during closed hours, the day after an event took place at the Museum that a handful of us came to see.

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #44

In this episode I share memories of the Words & Pictures Museum. Cowabunga Corner #5 & #20 focused on the opening and closing of this museum. Here I talk about how I found the Museum and some memories I have. The Words & Pictures Museum has always meant a lot to me and I miss it.

Cowabunga Corner #20

In this episode I share video footage from July 1999 of the closing of the Words & Pictures Museum.

This is the Thank you speech to those who supported the Museum during the years that it was open. We also see Kevin get a few awards for the kindness he’s shared with others.  I filmed most of this video personally the other camera person was my sister Miki. I was filming through the full speech, I know the camera swings around a bit from time to time.
